The leaves are often plump and can be a variety of colors, including green, red, or purple. Some species have fine, hair-like filaments growing from the leaf axils.
The flowers are usually small and often pink or white. They typically open for a short time in the afternoon.
This plant thrives in bright, direct sunlight. When grown indoors, a south-facing window is ideal. It needs at least six hours of sun per day to maintain its compact shape and silvery leaf color. Inadequate light can cause the plant to become “leggy,” stretching out to find light.
Like most succulents, this variety is very sensitive to overwatering.
Use the “soak and dry” method: Water thoroughly until water runs out of the drainage holes, then allow the soil to dry out completely before watering again.
Reduce watering significantly in the winter when the plant is dormant.
Avoid getting water on the fuzzy leaves, as this can lead to rot or fungal issues like powdery mildew.
